Each wine is reviewed by our tasting team, a group of enthusiasts from all backgrounds, and have a passion for great wine, and the game of golf.
Some team members have formal wine training, while others are seasoned wine drinkers.
Like a pro-golfer trusts their swing without distractions, our team tastes wines blind.
This “blind shot” ensures every wine is judged solely on performance. We rely on our taste buds to determine if the wine makes the cut.
Levelling the playing field, every wine gets an equal shot. Whether it’s a £900 bottle or a £10 contender, no labels and no bias!
Much like setting up a course where every golfer plays under the same favourable conditions.
If a wine isn’t hitting the mark, a new bottle is opened; because sometimes, a mulligan is a good idea.
Any wine that is rated BOGEY or worse is left in the rough, it does not make the cut.
When all the scores are in, the wines are revealed. Surprises happen, just like an underdog golfer unexpectedly topping the leaderboard!
Before the leaderboard is updated, a wine must also pass these 3 key tests:
1. Are the wineries or distributors run by people we like working with?
2. Would we personally spend our money on the wine?
3. Is it exceptional enough to recommend to fellow golf & wine lovers?
